The project documented a completed building and a nearby excavation area from several aerial perspectives. These images provide a clear record of current site conditions while showing how each area relates to the surrounding hospital campus.

Aerial Documentation of Two Construction Areas
The drone photography focused on two locations identified by the project team.
One area contained a completed building, while the second showed new excavation and ongoing site development. Photographing both locations during the same visit created a consistent visual record of the property.
The aerial views also showed nearby buildings, access roads, equipment, and the surrounding campus. This broader context can help project teams understand where the work is taking place without relying entirely on ground-level photos.
Overhead, Angled and Wide Site Views
Each construction area was photographed from multiple planned perspectives.
Straight-down photos created a map-like view of the site. These images clearly showed the shape, boundaries, and layout of the excavation and completed building.
Approximately 45-degree aerial photos added depth and made it easier to see building height, terrain, equipment, and other site conditions.
Wider overview photos showed how each area connects with the rest of the Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas campus. Together, these views created more complete documentation than a single aerial angle could provide.
Drone Photography at an Active Hospital Campus
Capturing drone photos at an active medical campus requires careful preparation.
The flight plan must account for buildings, equipment, pedestrian activity, vehicles, weather, airspace, and ongoing construction. The goal is to document the requested areas efficiently while avoiding interference with hospital and construction operations.
